Drive Clean Testing in Ontario – Introduced in 1998 and recently updated
Drive Clean in Ontario recently tightened emissions standards and focused the program on vehicles that are most likely to pollute. On January 1, 2013, Ontario introduced changes to the emissions test to make the Drive Clean program even better. The new test takes advantage of the computerized monitoring equipment in today’s technologically advanced vehicles.
This new system detects any faults in the vehicles computer system, and will notify the owner on their printed emissions report. Customers will usually be aware of this by the illumination of the vehicles “engine light”. If this light is illuminated, and the vehicle fails, diagnostics will be needed to diagnose the reason for the failure.
At Precise Car Service our equipment is capable testing light trucks and cars from 1998 and on. Emissions tests detect dangerous and harmful pollutants produced from a car’s engine to the exhaust such as nitrous oxide and carbon monoxide.
